Taylor joined Five Paper as a tenant in October 2024 after successful completion of her pupillage.
Taylor has experience across all of Chambers’ practice areas and has appeared in both the County Court and the High Court. Her pupil supervisors were Sam Phillips, Gita Chakravarty, Simon Strelitz, Elizabeth England, and Tristan Salter. During pupillage, Taylor gained experience through marshalling with DDJ Chakravarty in the County Court, as well as Mr Justice Bright and HHJ Pelling KC in the Commercial Court.
Prior to commencing Pupillage, Taylor worked as a Relationship Manager at a Responsible Business Charity where she supported FTSE 100 and FTSE 250 organisations with their CSR aims. She also volunteered with Hackney Community Law Centre, supporting as a housing and employment caseworker.
Expertise
Property
Taylor is building a practice in all areas of Property Law and in Chambers’ social housing specialism.
During her time as a pupil, Taylor gained experience conducting:
- Possession proceedings, on all grounds for public and private landlords including possessions which raise matters of succession, public law, Equality Act defences, shared ownership possessions, disrepair and capacity;
- Anti-social behaviour injunctions and access injunctions;
- Directions and application hearings, including summary judgment and set-aside applications;
- Environmental Protecting Act hearings in the Magistrates Court; and
- Acting as a junior to Sam Phillips in a High Court appeal on judicial interpretation of orders.
Taylor also gained experience through observing and being involved in: Environmental Protection Act trials, complex Protection from Eviction and Houses in Multiple Occupation prosecution proceedings, attending the Court of Appeal to observe Nicholas Grundy KC in Rahimi v City of Westminster Council [2024] EWCA 73, boundary disputes, orders for sale, easements and right to light, committal proceedings, and forfeiture.
Commercial
Taylor is building a practice in all areas of Commercial Law, including bankruptcy and insolvency, immigration and employment.
During her time as a pupil, Taylor gained experience through being involved in:
- Bankruptcy proceedings, including volunteering on the Bankruptcy Representation Scheme and defending petitions in the High Court;
- Administration orders and extensions;
- Winding-up petitions;
- Statutory demands, including setting aside statutory demands;
- Business immigration licensing matters; and
- Employment including unfair dismissal and worker status.
