Oliver Hutchings
Profile
Before commencing pupillage, Oliver spent four years working as a Legal Assistant at the Law Commission of England and Wales supporting the development of the Leasehold and Freehold Reform Act 2024. As part of this, Oliver led on implementing the Commission’s reform recommendations relating to the costs of enfranchisement and Right to Manage claims. During this time, Oliver also completed the Bar Course, acted pro bono on a Disability Living Allowance appeal with FRU, and volunteered with Advocate where he was praised for his “shrewd attention to detail” and “ability to convey complex issues in simple language”.
Oliver graduated with a First Class Law Degree from the University of Exeter in 2020. Alongside his studies, Oliver advised clients on social security, property and environmental law issues at the University of Exeter’s Access to Justice Clinic. He was a finalist of his university’s Moot Court Competition and supported the research and drafting of memorials for the Philip C. Jessup International Law Moot Court Competition 2019.
