Caitlin Lamboo

Profile

After attaining her LLB and before being called to the Bar, Caitlin spent three years working for both an international law firm and a local Chinese law firm in Shanghai. In the international firm, she worked in corporate and commercial law and provided company secretarial services to companies based in Hong Kong. For Shanghai-based clients, she provided integral support to companies with day-to-day legal issues; drafting contracts and attending meetings with clients who were in the process of establishing their business in China.

When employed by the Chinese law firm, working exclusively with Chinese lawyers, Caitlin extended and maintained the firm’s international client base. She assisted in effective cross-cultural communications between international clients and the Chinese team working in litigation and commercial law, and gathered the required documentation and evidence.

Caitlin previously worked for the Bar Council’s policy team where her areas of focus were professional ethics, anti-money laundering and sanctions, and regulation.

Caitlin developed Bar Council policy in these areas by drafting responses to consultations that concerned the regulation of the Bar and by engaging with external stakeholders. She led on anti-money laundering and sanctions, liaising with regulators and government to represent the Bar’s interests in these areas.

Latterly Caitlin worked in the Solicitors Regulation Authority’s policy team where she focused on professional ethics and the regulation of the use of AI by legal professionals.

Caitlin holds an LLB from the University of Sussex. She participated in the Telders International Moot Court Competition and was awarded Best Oralist in the Dutch national rounds of the Jessup International Law Moot Court Competition 2010.

She previously volunteered with the Free Representation Unit’s in social security.

Caitlin is bilingual, being a native speaker of both English and Dutch.
