Alex comes to the bar having practised as a litigation solicitor-advocate for several years. Following a training contract at a leading city firm, he spent a year practising property litigation before returning to commercial practise.
Particularly significant cases that Alex has worked on as a solicitor include:
- G.I. Globinvest Limited and ors v XY ERS UK Limited and ors [2025] EWHC 740 (Comm). A financial services litigation including claims for fraudulent conspiracy.
- Suppipat and ors v Narongdej and ors [2023] EWHC 1988 (Comm). A complex banking litigation which was one of The Lawyer’s Top 20 Cases of 2022.
- X v Y (2023). A commercial development dispute involving claims in tort, contract, and judicial review proceedings.
- Coventry v EEA Fund Management (2020). A funds litigation in the SDNY involving particularly difficult issues regarding privilege and compellability.
- X v Y (2020). An investment treaty arbitration under 1976 UNCITRAL Rules, involving a significantly expedited hearing and complex foreign law.
Alex spent the year prior to pupillage working at the cutting edge of fintech and AI. He worked in-house for one of the world’s leading fintech payment solutions companies, overseeing litigation management and jurisdiction expansion. He also worked as a freelance contractor to train and improve AI models by designing, reviewing, and auditing training programs for the world’s leading AI research organisations.
Whilst at university, Alex consistently represented both Monash University and Australia in international debating and mooting competitions and was recognised as one of the university’s best student advocates.
